The Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) will present Amy Irving, Lili Taylor and Jeanne Tripplehorn as Olga, Irina and Masha respectively, in
Lanford Wilson’s translation of Chekhov’s THREE SISTERS. Billy Crudup, Eric Stoltz and David Strathairn will star as the suitors. Performances begin January 22, 1997. Amy Irving, who made her Broadway debut in Amadeus, won an Obie Award for her performance in Athol Fugard’s The Road To Mecca and was last seen on Broadway in Arthur Miller’s Broken Glass. Her film credits include the cult classic Carrie (film debut), Yentl (Academy Award nomination), Crossing Delancey and Carried Away. Lili Taylor is making her Broadway debut in THREE SISTERS. She appeared Off-Broadway in the critically acclaimed AvenU Boys and in the films Girls Town, I Shot Andy Warhol, Say Anything and Mystic Pizza. Jeanne Tripplehorn was last seen on stage in New York in the Public Theater’s 1992 production of ‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore with Val Kilmer. She has appeared in the films The Firm and Waterworld. Scott Elliott, Roundabout Theatre’s Associate Artist, will direct THREE SISTERS. This summer he directed Arthur Miller’s Ride Down Mt. Morgan and is currently directing Noel Coward’s Present Laughter on Broadway starring Frank Langella. Elliott received an Obie Award for his acclaimed production of Curtains and his direction of The Monogamist won him a Lucille Lortel Award. The suitors will be played by Billy Crudup (Sleepers, Arcadia), Eric Stoltz (Our Town, The Importance of Being Earnest) and David Strathairn (The River Wild).
